Sonic 4 delayed

Sega has confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has been delayed.

The first instalment of the episodic platform game was due to be released some time this summer but will now hit in the latter half of 2010”.

The additional time will allow the development team to focus on keeping the game high-quality, continuing tuning and balancing of levels and interface and overall maintaining the kind of polish that an important game like this demands, ultimately providing fans with an unrivalled classic Sonic feel,” a statement read.

Sonic’s fourth outing will for the first time in the series be digital only. Sega has also announced that alongside the versions already announced for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare, the game will also be released for iPhone.
