Touch Pets Dogs studio acquired in expansion move by mobile game devs

ngmoco obtains Stumptown Game Machine

Mobile games studio ngmoco has acquired Stumptown Game Machine, makers of Touch Pets Dogs. Among the Stumptown team joining ngmoco are AI specialists Andrew Stern and Richard Evans.

No fee for the deal has yet been announced.

“We are delighted to welcome the Stumptown Game Machine team, led by Andrew Stern, to the ngmoco family,” said ngmoco CEO Neil Young.

“With a proven track record of games that are equal parts charming, fun and accessible, we’re proud to have such terrific AI designers and innovative thinkers expand our growing line-up of games.”

Stumptown developed Touch Pets Dogs for iPhone and iPod with ngmoco last year. The title topped the free app charts on the Apple App store when released, and has since been downloaded over five million times.

“ngmoco has been an incredibly supportive and creative partner from the beginning of Touch Pets Dogs,” said Andrew Stern.

“Formally joining the team strengthens our collaboration and creates the opportunity to make exciting new games.”

Stumptown Game Machine will retain its name, brand and Oregon-based HQ. A follow-up title to Touch Pets Dogs is believed to be in the works.
