Halo: Reach beta tops 1m

More than one million Xbox 360 owners signed up for the Halo: Reach open beta within the first 24 hours.

That’s according to the game’s developer Bungie, which reports that 1,170,112 people have played the game since the beta opened on Monday, according to Kotaku.

The studio also announced that 157,972,986 kills were racked up within the first day – despite strong demand for Reach overwhelming the game’s servers.

The full version of Halo: Reach is due to be released later this year, and is already generating a massive following. The game topped a recent US survey of consumers’ intended purchases.
