Cliffy Bs reveal is NOT Gears of War 3

An ad for the next issue of Official Xbox Magazine has confirmed that Epic is to reveal a brand new shooter in its next issue – crushing hopes that developer Cliffy Bleszinski’s anticipated announcement on the US’ Jimmy Fallon Show will be Gears of War 3.

The back of page ad in the new issue of OXM claims that the June edition of the mag will contain three exclusives, one of which is described as a brand new shooter from the makers of Gears of War”.

Of course, this doesn’t explicitly rule out the possibility that the game in question is indeed a third Gears of War title, but does heavily imply that it’s a new IP.

Let’s not forget, though, that back in Febraury EA listed a new Epic shooter as coming this Q4. Could both Gears of War 3 AND a new IP be on the way?

Furthermore, there’s hope for PS3 owners that Epic Studios’s next game could be a multi-platform title. Who knows – Gears of war 3 could even be coming to PlayStation.

It was reported last month that Gears of War 3 is already in development and currently pencilled in for an April 2011 release.
