Middleware provider and interface devs secure Ubisoft deal

Scaleform lands Prince of Persia deal

Scaleform, the flash-based middleware provider and UI creators, have licensed their UI tech Scaleform GFx to Ubisoft for the upcoming Wii title Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

Scaleform GFx 3.1 provides Wii devs with a ‘Lite’ build configuration that can reduce GFx code size by up to thirty percent. Ubisoft says this ability is what drew them to working with Scaleform.

“Fans of the Prince of Persia series have come to expect fast action and fluid animation, so keeping a steady frame rate of 60fps on a console like Wii was very important to us,” said Prince of Persia technical director Marc Parenteau.

“Scaleform GFx 3.1 with its ‘Lite’ features gave us the ability to quickly create high-performance, highly immersive UIs while maintaining ultra-fast frame rates.”
