No Champions Online for console

After more than a year of ‘will they, won’t they’, Cryptic Studios and Atari have backed away from bringing Champions Online to consoles.

The PC superhero MMO was mooted as an Xbox 360 game, through the latter part of its development. But even then, Cryptic said that finding a model that worked was going to prove a challenge.

Writing on the Champions Online Forums, Cryptic COO Jack Emmert stated, 100% of our focus is on making the current PC product the best it can be. There are no current plans for a console version of Champions Online.”

Marketing and community manager Ivan Sulic subsequently told IGN, "We’d love to make console versions of all our games –every developer would like to see its games on as many platforms as possible – but we’re focusing on expanding and improving Champs on PC because our fans are important to us." Champions Online arrived in September 2009, with Atari and Cryptic stating then that an Xbox 360 version could have been released within months.
