Global development hub to get commanding presence at upcoming European industry gathering

Canada named as official Gamescom partner

In a demonstration of its increasingly global reach, this year’s Gamescom has struck a deal with global development hub Canada that will see the territory enjoy a leading presence at the industry gathering this August.
It’s the first year that the event has trialled the partner country concept.

“We are very pleased to have won Canada, the country with the highest innovation and development power for the global games industry, as a partner of Gamescom,” Olaf Wolters, CEO of BIU (German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software) stated.

Koelnmesse executive VP Oliver P. Kuhrt added: “With Canada as first official partner country, Gamescom emphasises its position as an internationally leading business, impulse and entertainment platform and its ability to open the doors to the most important markets in the world. I’m sure Canada will create a furore at Gamescom.”

This year’s Gamescom will take place between August 18th and August 22nd in Cologne. More details can be found on the official site.
