Former MMO developer fronting Facebook studio Portalarium

Garriott returns with social studio

Famed MMO creator and father of Ultima Online Rcichard Garriott has returned to the games industry after revealing that he’s one of the founder of social gaming startup Portalarium.

The last time we heard from Garriott he was packing his bags and leaving his post at MMO specialist NCsoft following the failure of his most recent project, Tabula Rasa.

Joining him at Portalarium are the likes of Dallas Snell and Fred Schmidt, both of whom worked with Garriott at both EA and NCsoft. The studio pledges to deliver the next generation of Facebook games, taking them beyond the confines of Flash or Java.
