PES gets World Cup Edition

With EA making plenty of noise about the April release of its FIFA World Cup South Africa tie-in, Konami has quietly announced a World Cup-themed Pro Evolution Soccer title scheduled to coincide with this summer’s tournament.

More specifically, it has confirmed a spring release for Winning Eleven 2010 Aoki Samurai no Chosen – which is loosely translated as WE 2010 Challenge of the Samurai.

The bad news for Western gamers is that it’s a Japanese-only release for the PS3, PSP, PS2 and Wii.

The game, which is licensed by the Japanese Football Association, focuses specifically on the Japanese national team and its efforts to both qualify and prevail in this summer’s tournament.
