PSP delivers for Marvelous

Flying in the face of what you might guess to be the case, Japanese production company Marvelous Entertainment has admitted that it has seen far greater returns from its PSP operations this year than it has from its Wii business.

Siliconera reports that the firm said that three of its four Wii titles published in the period failed to make any money. In comparison, four of its five PSP titles returned a profit.

The most successful of these was RPG Half-Minute Hero, which shifted 70,000 units in Japan. Other hits included Hitman Reborn! Battle Arena 2 (41,000 units) and Valhalla Knights 2: Battle Stance (35,000).

It’s Wii titles included hand-drawn adventure outing Muramasa: The Demon Blade (47,000) as well as Arc Rise Fantasia (45,000) and Little King’s Story (26,000) – though the latter put in a fairly good performance in North America and did better still in Europe.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade is released in the UK today (if you can get hold of it) whilst Half-Minute Hero is due out some time in 2010. Both titles are published in the UK by Rising Star.
