45 per cent year on year earnings increase for Gamebryo firm

Sales boom for Emergent

Gamebryo firm Emergent Games Technologies has reported higher than expected sales for the first half of 2009.

The firm, which recently secured another round of funding to grow its business and support its R&D efforts, said that it had seen nearly 45 per cent increase in the first half of 2009 over earnings during the same period in 2008.

Emergent said it had secured a number of licences in the North American and Asian markets – with Korea specifically being a growth area.

Also, the company said that its engine is being used in a variety of games, from upcoming WiiWare title Dragon Master Spellcaster by Stickmen Studios to Cyanide’s recent title Blood Bowl. It’s also being used in Vizerra.com, the world’s first 3D education portal created by 3DreamTeam.

"Emergent’s technologies are inspiring gaming creativity around the world," said a statement from the company.

Emergent added that it was also pretty chuffed at making it to number two in our ranking of the ten best game engines available today – its Lightspeed package made it to second, and the firm promises to unveil the next big evolution for that tool in August.
