Finnish games industry turnover up 11%

The Finnish games industry has reported a 11 per cent increase in turnover in 2008, and a six per cent increase in employment in the sector in the same period.

The number of game-orientated companies in the Scandinavian country also increased by four per cent,

The statistics were made public by Tekes, a Finnish governmental organisation that supports RnD in the country’s technology industry through loans and grants.

Tekes has pointed to its own VERSO initiative, as well as the price-quality ratio of gaming production and delivery reliability in the region’s industry.

A full report on the Finnish gaming industry and the funding benefits it enjoys can be found in the latest issue of Develop, which is out tomorrow.
