Pirate Bay sails onto Facebook

Whilst the three men behind BitTorrent portal Pirate Bay are still awaiting the final decision in their Swedish court case, the site itself continues to expand with the launch of a new Facebook-specific widget.

TechRadar reports that users are now able to click on a new button that offers a link to downloadable content through the leading social portal.

Critics are worried that the move could lead to the proliferation of pirated material on Facebook, and even possibly the criminalisation of innocent users who find themselves downloading the content without realising they are breaking the law.

The move reasserts Pirate Bay’s claims that all is well with the site – frequent drop outs in the last few weeks had lead to speculation that the site was on the verge of closing.

The final decision in the ongoing Pirate Bay court battle is expected next month.
