Rockstar Games' creative VP tops website's 'Hot 100' list

Dan Houser is world’s best developer, says Edge

Dan Houser, the co-founder and vice president of creative for Rockstar, has taken the number one slot in the Edge Hot 100 Game Developers of 2009 list.

Edge cites his role in the conception and ongoing success of the Grand Theft Auto series as the key reason for him topping the list. The consumer website also points to the protracted retention struggle that saw Take-Two clinging on to what many consider its most important asset as evidence of Houser’s influence in the industry.

Houser beat EA’s Rod Humble, Nintendo’s Hideki Konno and Shigeru Miyamoto and Neversoft’s Scott Pease, who all featured in the top five.
