Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 confirmed

Speaking in last night’s company earnings call, Activison president Mike Griffith confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for a Q4 2009 release.

No other details about the game have yet been released, but speaking about the success of the Call of Duty series, Griffith stated: "2009 is going to be a very exciting year for the franchise as we expect this year’s launch is likely going to be the most anticipated title of all of 2009."

The announcement came about during Activision Blizzard’s Q4 2009 earnings conference call.

Activision posted a $72 million fourth quarter loss for 2008, despite a yearly combined revenue of $5 billion.
