Ghostbusters set for 2009 release?

Variety reports

that Ghostbusters IP holder Sony Pictures is exploring options to release the much-anticipated game next year.

Last week Activision Blizzard made public its decision to drop the title – which had originally been slated for an autumn 2008 release – as part of its restructuring process.

The Variety article quotes a Sony Pictures spokesperson as saying it is working with Activision Blizzard "to evaluate various options surrounding the release of the ‘Ghostbusters’ video game… this has presented [Sony Pictures Consumer Products] with an opportunity to re-evaluate the game release marketing strategy to potentially coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film in ’09."

Meanwhile, Variety also reports that the Ludlum estate is in the process of finding a new publisher for the Jason Bourne games, which were also a casualty of the Actvision Blizzard re-jig.
