"EA and Hasbro want to give families new ways to enjoy games; we want give them a new way to come together, connect, spend time and have fun around the TV or online," said Chip Lange, Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Hasbro Studio.

"Bringing the spirit of these games to life as video games has allowed us to create really unique and creative experiences for families and friends of all ages to enjoy together at home or online."

Games based on Littlest Pet Shop, Nerf, Yahtezee, Monopoly, Scrabble, Risk, Operation, Trivial Pursuit, Pictureka are due throughout the year.

EA’s Salt Lake Studio will mak Wii and DS Littlest Pet Shop and Nerf N-Strike titles, while EA Mobile is creating Monopoly Here and Now, Trivia Pursuit, Risk and Yahtzee Adventures games.

EA’s Pogo.com is making online versions of Monopoly and Yahtzee, plus Trivial Pursuit. The site is also launching connected versions of Operating and Pictureka.

In the announcement, EA said that the firm is also working on new Monopoly and Scrabble title for multiple platforms, as well as other titles that will be announced later in 2008.

Given recent news that the firm has set up a new Blueprint division for games on social networks, and the fact that Facebook’s popular Scrabulous app has come under fire from Hasbro – could EA also be working on a legitimate replacement for the social network’s most popular game?
