Another games firm opens Montreal office

Mobile developer Javagrounds has announced at the Montreal Game Summit that it is expanding with a new studio in the Quebec city.

The firm hopes to grow a small production studio of around 20 staff – Javagrounds is investing over $1m in the new operation.

Javaground’s President and world CEO Alexandre Kral, commented: "Montréal is a North American leader in game development. By opening a studio here, we will be able to benefit from the know-how of the region’s experienced professionals. In the near future, we believe that Montréal will become one of our most important development centres. Furthermore, we are investing more than one million dollars this year to ensure the growth of our Montréal-based team."

Vincent Deschênes, Director of Operations for Javaground Canada, said that the company plans to grow even further over time: "Over the next two or three years, we are looking at a target of between 25 to 30 employees."

Javaground worked with agency Montréal International to set up the new studio.
