EA has acquired American firm Super Computer International and its PlayLinc technology.

PlayLinc provides players with IM, VoIP and buddy list functions, plus the ability to create free hosted servers from a web browser.

The SCI development team will be folded into EA’s Online Technology Group and Jesper Jensen, SCI CEO, will stay as leader of the team reporting to Nanea Reeves, EA VP and COO for Online.

"SCI’s development expertise is uniquely suited to our online technology needs," said Reeves. "The team’s technical leadership and creative approach is a great fit, and we’re thrilled to have them join EA."
