Perforce gains mobile foothold

Perforce Software is celebrating the use of its software configuration management solution Perforce in UIQ Technology’s open source platform for mobile phones.

UIQ, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Ericsson, has a team of over 200 software developers working on its UIQ open software platform for mobile phones, and simultaneously manages multiple active code streams for current, future and legacy smartphones.

“Perforce has helped us remain in control during the rapid evolution of smartphone handset technology,” said Jonas Lindeborg, UIQ’s vice president of software development.

“It gives us a fast, reliable and scalable management system for our UIQ code base. Perforce helps our pre-system integration process because its branching and merging capabilities enable developers to test code rigorously in their personal branches before merging it back for colleagues to use,” he added.
