Mario Party 8 recalled over offensive word

After hitting retail on Friday, all copies of Mario Party 8 have been recalled due to the ‘wrong version’ of the game – which contains the word ‘spastic’ in its script – being released.

During the game, Kamek the blue wizard says: "Magikoopa magic! Turn the train spastic! Make this ticket tragic!" Apparently, the offending phrase should have been taken out of the final game before it was released, reported

"[Mario Party 8] was launched in the UK today,” Nintendo said on its website. Unfortunately we have discovered that a small number of games contain the wrong version of the disk due to an assembly error. We have therefore decided to recall all copies of the game from UK retailers so that this mistake can be corrected."

Nintendo said it will make an announcement soon regarding when the game will be re-released.
