Prague company founded in $2.2m makes it big

Gamee raises $2.2m in funding round

Mobile gaming outfit Gamee, which delivers games via instant messenger bots, has just netted $2.2m in seed round funding.

Gamee’s a tough one, to sum up: a platform that provides instantly playable games with a small footprint on instant messenger services Facebook Messenger, Kik and Telegram alongside an app. It’s mobile games, but not as we know it.

Investment was led by Initial Capital and Credo Ventures, with Index Ventures and several angel investors chucking in, too.

Bozena Rezab Gamee’s CEO, said in a statement: “Native apps are great for rich gaming experiences; however, for casual and super-casual gaming, the barrier of installing is high,” CEO Bozena Rezab says. “We have designed Gamee so that people click and play and are in gameplay within 3 seconds, either if you play games from our main apps or in chat with friends from our chatbots.”

Gamee launched in 2015 and has four million monthly active users playing its library of 60 games. These users are spending around 30 minutes playing games every day, with player retention at around 25%. Considering most games lose 80 to 90 per cent of their players within a few days after install, these numbers are big news.

Gamee was one of 10 launch partners for Facebook’s Instant Games and a global launch partner for Telegram and Kik gaming.
