HyperX sponsors Daigo Umehara

Peripheral manufacturer HyperX has sponsored legendary Street Fighter player Daigo “The Beast” Umehara.

The global sponsorship deal will see Umehara exclusively wear HyperX headsets when competing.

“Whether training for my next event or on-stage at a major tournament, I need the best quality sound so I can perform at the highest level,” said Umehara when speaking to Yahoo Esports. “HyperX gaming headsets are the most comfortable I’ve ever worn, while also providing world-class audio at a reasonable price. I’m excited to be a part of HyperX and look forward to working closely with them.”

Umehara was previously sponsored by hardware manufacturer Mad Catz, until the company ran into financial trouble and dropped the sponsorship earlier this year. Since then Umehara has been somewhat of a sponsorship magnet, working with Red Bull, Twitch and now HyperX.

Umehara’s first time out with his new HyperX gear will be the Capcom Cup this weekend. As one of the best Street Fighter players of all time, and easily the most well known world wide, Umehara goes in as one of the favourites to take home the $120,000 plus first place prize money. The action kicks off tomorrow, December 2nd with the top eight taking place at the PlayStation Experience on December 3rd.
