Six teams receive funds for their Unreal-powered projects and contributions to the community

$100,000 awarded in latest Unreal Dev Grants

Epic Games has named the recipients of a fresh round of Unreal Dev Grants, the firm’s $5m fund to aid projects developed with its tech.

Six studios received a share of $100,000, ranging for games developers to creators of tools for other developers that use Epic’s games engine.

Companies that received grants include: Turtleneck Studios, which is working on a family-focused co-poerative exploration game Rite of Ilk; Implausible Industries, developer of turn-based strategy game Research and Destroy; and Inbetweengames, a studio staffed by former Yager devs working on tech-noir spy thriller All Walls Must Fall.

Unreal user Alexander Shatalov received a grant for Allright Rig, his expandable library of nodes and macros that enable devs to create character rigs and hone their character animation.

Finally, Stitch Heads and its multiplayer pinball game Kabounce received a grant, as did Skunkwerks Kinetic for its sci-fi title MEG 9: Lost Echoes, which is being developed in collaboration with Neuromancer author William Gibson.

Recipients will receive between $5,000 and $50,000. Unreal Dev Grants have issued more than $1m since the scheme launched.

"As consumer preferences and the broader entertainment industry continue to shift away from physical discs to digital, physical game disc production for all new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028.  Following this date, new games will be available on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only. This transition has no impact on games that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in disc format."
