Steam release confirmed for Quantum Break

Current Windows 10 exclusive Quantum Break will be released on Steam next month.

The game, formerly believed to be an Xbox One exclusive, was announced for PC in February. Back then it was a Windows Store and Windows 10 exclusive. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer did subsequently say that the company would release its games on Steam in the future. It seems he wasn’t wrong.

The Steam release arrives alongside a physical version of the game published by Nordic Games. That SKU packs a Blu-ray documentary, CD soundtrack, a guide and a couple of posters

Interestingly, the Steam version of Quantum Break is not tied to Windows 10 and supports both Windows 7 and 8, as well as DirectX 11.

Note that the Windows Store version of the game had plenty of problems at launch. Regardless, the game’s arrival on Steam and as an .exe somewhat flies in the face of the growing ‘Microsoft wants to own PC’ narrative.
