Video: Resident Evil 7 launching next January, fully supports PlayStation VR

UPDATE: Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 7 is coming to Xbox One and PC as well as PlayStation 4.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Capcom’s Resident Evil series is back and returning to its horror roots.

Announced on-stage last night at Sony’s press event, Resident Evil 7 is playable from start to end in PlayStation VR. This is in line with rumours about a new entry in the series.

A demo for the survival horror is available right now. Furthermore – the game will be launching on January 24th 2017.

Tonally, the game seems very much in the same vein as the terrifying Kitchen VR demo Capcom has been showing off for the last year.

It’s not yet certain how this release ties into the rest of the series, and none of the series’ iconic characters appeared.

We may be reading a bit much into this, but it’s entirely possibly that this is a clean slate for the franchise, another detail rumoured earlier in the year.
