PewDiePie ‘not proud’ of offensive remarks

YouTube King PewDiePie has admitted that he’s uncomfortable with some of the comments he used to make on YouTube.

In a video entitled ‘Old vs. New PewDiePie’, Felix Kjellberg addressed fan criticism claiming that he is no longer the entertainer he once was.

While saying that he understands why an audience who was attracted to him by his old behaviour may not necessarily be so entertained by his more modern guise, he also insists that he’s pleased to have grown up a little – and that his old self is something he has mixed feelings about.

I’ve undergone a massive change from my first video to my last. I’m very happy where I am right now,” he explained.

Looking back on some of his older videos, he expressed discomfort at his derogatory use of the word ‘gay’, adding: Back then I was so immature and I just thought things were funny just because they were offensive. So I would say a lot of stupid shit. I’m not proud of it, I’m really not. But I’m also glad I’ve grown past it.”

Also lamented is the use of the word ‘retarded’ in a video description: I really should go through and censor a lot of these videos”.

Concluded the Swede: To me the improvement is clear. To me I’ve grown so much as an entertainer, as a comedian, but also as a person. I feel like back then I was very childish and very confused. I didn’t know what I was doing.”
