$5 million initiative launched last year aims to support projects and individuals working in academia

Unreal Dev Grants gives another $100,000 to educational partners

Epic Games’ education-focused Unreal Dev Grants initiative has handed out its next round of funding.

The $5 million programme was launched last year, aiming to incubate projects and individuals for academic purposes.

Among the ten new recipients sharing this round’s $100,000 pool are ShooterTutorial creator Andrzej Koloska, online community Layout VR and UCode co-founder Nick Marks.

Dev and tutor Ben Tristem was awarded $13,000, while environment and VFX artist Leonard Gonzalez was given $11,000. Meanwhile, Kenichiro Igari of the Unreal Challenge programme and trainer Greg Benicourt were handed $8,000 apiece.

They join three contributors who were re-awarded $5,000 each in funds.

The lucky three were Unreal tutorial provider Tesla Dev, community member Rama and Staffordshire University’s senior games development lecturer James Butcher.
