Developer’s involvement confirmed by director Tetsuya Nomura

Naruto studio CyberConnect2 co-developing Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square Enix’s hotly anticipated remake of classic RPG Final Fantasy VII is being partly developed by CyberConnect2.

The Japanese studio is best known for its Naruto-licensed fighting games, and the .Hack series, although it has previously developed a series of mobile games, including Final Fantasy VII G-Bike.

The developer’s contribution was confirmed by Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura and producer Yoshinori Kitase during an interview with Famitsu, reports GameSpot.

CyberConnect2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama has previously said he would like to work on the remake – before it was even announced at E3 this year.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was once again shown off at this weekend’s PlayStation Experience event. It will have a more active combat system, akin to the latest Final Fantasy games, and could potentially be episodic.
