Dragon Quest XI announced for PS4, 3DS… and maybe Nintendo NX

UPDATE: Square Enix has told GameSpot that Dragon Quest XI and X are "under consideration" for NX and not officially confirmed. The headline has been reflected to show this.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Nintendo NX has its first two confirmed titles – Dragon Quest XI and Dragon Quest X.

The news comes following Square Enix’s announcement of its new RPG, which will also be coming to PS4 and 3DS.

It’s the first time since Dragon Age VIII that a main entry in the series has debuted on one of Sony’s platforms. The game will be an open-world RPG and is being developed using Unreal Engine 4. The 3DS version, meanwhile, blends two visual styles with one screen displaying 2D graphics and the other 3D.

The Dragon Quest X re-release, meanwhile, is to mark the series’ 30thanniversary. That will also be coming to PS4 as well as Nintendo’s new console. It was previously released on both Wii, Wii U and 3DS but has not yet made it our of Japan.

Neither title has a release date yet, but a 2016 arrival to coincide with the 30thanniversary of the series seems likely. Could this date also point to a 2016 release for the NX?
