Publisher Deep Silver cuts ties with the studio

Yager dropped as Dead Island 2 developer

Dead Island 2 publisher Deep Silver has parted ways with the game’s developer Yager, bringing the upcoming game’s current state into serious question.

Deep Silver issued the following statement earlier today regarding the decision to cut ties with the studio:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager,” the publisher states.

“We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

No word yet regarding plans for a new development team to take Yager’s place. Dead Island 2 is currently scheduled for a 2016 release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
