Developer collaborating with The Coalition

Splash Damage working on Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

UK studio Splash Damage is working on Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Xbox One and PC.

The developer is collaborating with The Coalition on completely re-mastering the original entry in the series. It will include 90 minutes of new campaign content from the original PC game. The studios claims the multiplayer mode will now run at 60fps on dedicated servers, and the title will also support Dolby 7.1 surround sound.

A beta has already begun on Xbox Live. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be released on August 25th, 2015.

“For the past decade we’ve been fortunate enough to work on some of the world’s most famous intellectual properties including Wolfenstein, Doom, and Batman: Arkham Origins,” said Splash Damage CEO Paul Wedgwood.

“To date we’ve got six consecutive #1 hit titles, and although this has all been absolutely incredible, nothing compares to the scope and scale of a game like Gears of War. We loved playing Gears of War when it first came out, and we’re thrilled to be part of one of Xbox’s beloved franchises.”
