MICROSOFT: Xbox One gets Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

Well, here’s a surprise – Xbox One will soon offer Xbox 360 game backwards compatibility.

Microsoft says that as part of its mission to offer the largest console games catalogue, 100s of Xbox 360 titles will be available this holiday”.

Furthermore, if you already own a supported game you won’t have to pay for it again – just pop in your 360 disc and then download the game for free. This of course confirms that games will not be played from the disc – which is an impossibility due to the different architecture of the machines.

However, despite this games will retain all of their original features, including online multiplayer. Plus, Xbox One functions like game DVR and Snap will also be usable.

The first Xbox 360 games on Xbox One will be available to Preview members today. The service will launch proper with hundreds of titles, with hundreds more to come.
