VR firm wants indies to create 'innovative' new experiences

Oculus pledges $10m to support independent VR game development

Oculus has pledged $10m to support independent game development for its virtual reality headset the Oculus Rift.

The news was announced during a special Oculus event unveiling the consumer version of the Oculus Rift. The fund was announced by Oculus head of developer strategy Anna Sweet.

Sweet said the VR firm was keen to provide support to game developers from indie all the way up to triple-A studios. It is hoped the fund will create "innovative" new experiences in VR.

We’ll provide more details on how developers can apply for the fund as it becomes available.
