Three Fields Entertainment instead teases “new twist on a sports game”

Burnout creators’ new studio not working on driving game

UK developer Three Fields Entertainment is not working on a driving or racing game as many had expected.

The studio opened doors last year, set up by Burnout creators and Criterion founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry. The duo was later joined by former Criterion CTO Paul Ross.

Three Fields Entertainment has said little to nothing about what they have been working on until this week, when they launched their official website. While details are still scarce, we now know the firm’s first game will not be in the genre Ward and Sperry are best known for.

“This first game isn’t a driving or racing game,” the team writes on its website. “It’s an original new game – an innovative new twist on a sports game that’s fast, funny and heavy on social multiplayer.

“We’re keeping it under wraps until most of the game is complete. We’ll keep you posted as to when we’ll be ready to show it off.”

Ward discussed the studio’s origins and its working environment in his columns for Develop.

Criterion, meanwhile, is working on an extreme sports title to be published by EA.
