Last-gen Destiny purchases come with free next-gen upgrade

Bungie is offering those who buy its new shooter Destiny on PS3 or Xbox 360 a free copy of the game on next-gen consoles.

The offer is limited to digital editions of the game and is limited to PS3-to-PS4 and Xbox 360-to-Xbox One upgrades.

In both instances once the game has been purchased on the last-gen machine, users will simply be able to log on to their PS4 or Xbox One to access and download the game for free from their accounts.

Furthermore, Bungie says that even when players have redeemed their next-gen game, their old-gen version will remain accessible

Progress will be transferrable, although once it has been ported over those characters will no longer be accessible from the older machine.

The offer applies to the base game, the Digital Guardian Edition and the expansion pass, although it will only run until January 15th.
