Nintendo confirms Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle

The rumoured (and inevitable) Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle has been confirmed by Nintendo.

The Mario Kart 8 Premium Pack: Special Edition will be released alongside the game on May 30th and include a 32GB black console and copy of the game.

Nintendo hasn’t yet confirmed a price for the SKU.

Some regard the arrival of Mario Kart on Wii U as the system’s potentially last hope of finally shifting some serious units. The Mario Kart series has grown to become a huge commercial success for Nintendo and has a loyal following.

However, with last year’s Super Mario 3D World failing to significantly boost console sales despite a rapturous reception from critics, it remains to be seen whether Mario Kart 8 can deliver the kind of mammoth sales boost the console so dearly needs ahead of E3.
