Project Cars dev Slightly Mad reveals racing MMO World of Speed

The studio behind in-development hardcore racing sim Project Cars has revealed an altogether more light-hearted title.

World of Speed, from UK developer Slightly Mad Studios, is described by the studio as a triple-A massively multiplayer online arcade racing video game” that will be released as a free-to-play PC title this year.

It will feature true-to-life tracks” and a range of cars from everyday city runners to the fastest super cars” in cities such as London and San Francisco.

There will be an emphasis on club and team multiplayer gameplay, including player challenges and live events. A closed beta is planned for the spring.

At the heart of World of Speed lies a unique massive multiplayer online experience which incorporates a dynamic social elements and entirely new ways to compete in a racing video game – from an individual to a team level,” Slightly Mad CEO Ian Bell stated.

World of Speed is an online game and will be continuously supported with innovative and fresh content to keep the competition furious well after its launch.”

Sim title Project Cars is also due out this year on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Steam OS and – if you can believe it – Wii U.
