GAME tops UK retail Christmas league table

OC&C Strategy Consultants’ Christmas 2013 league table has named GAME and the UK’s big High Street winner.

The chain apparently boasted the largest growth of any UK retailer not only in-store but also online, Retail Week reports.

While OC&C did note that the success story is more generally about the wider video games market” it also credited GAME with successes relating to its loyalty card scheme, improving its supplier relationships and instilling its by gamers, for gamers” identity with consumers.

Added the analyst: Those who have a strong, clear, niche proposition that really resonates with the consumer are doing quite well. Many of these have been exploiting the fact that multichannel allows more of a targeted proposition to reach customers that they never used to reach that well.”
