Windows 8 now on 20% of Steam user’s PCs

It may have had a rocky start in life, but Windows 8 adoption is clearly increasing amongst PC gamers.

PCGamesN reports that Windows 8 is now installed on 19.97 per cent of PCs owned by those logging in to Steam. That’s up on 18.45 per cent the month before.

Windows 7 claimed a 60+ per cent share.

Interestingly, when Mac and Linux are combined they still account for just 4.63 per cent of Steam logins, with Linux’s share sitting at below one per cent.

Note that these results come from Steam users who allow their machines to take part in Steam’s automatic hardware survey.
