Activision Blizzard to appeal for Vivendi split next month

Call of Duty publisher Activision will attempt to overturn a court decision that has prevented it from buying out its current owner Vivendi.

The $8.2bn move, which was announced back in July, was blocked by a Delaware court lawsuit last week.

Now the Delaware Supreme Court has said it will allow Activision Blizzard to argue its case on October 10th, according to Reuters.

The lawsuit comes from Activision investor Douglas Hayes, who is suing the publisher’s Board for allegedly breaching their duty to shareholders by not allowing stockholders to vote on the Vivendi deal.

Hayes is among many who have opposed the deal, although others argue the sale would be beneficial to Vivendi, which is trying to streamline its portfolio.
