Microsoft returning to Tokyo Game Show

Having skipped last year’s event Microsoft is listed amongst the confirmed companies for Tokyo Game Show 2013.

With the Xbox One just months away the decision is a sign that Microsoft still harbours ambitions in the region – although the fact that the console is unlikely to arrive in Japan until 2014 will quite possibly lessen the enthusiasm.

181 companies are confirmed for the event, according to Gematsu, including Sony, Gree, EA, Sega, Square Enix, Bethesda, Wargaming, AMD, Capcom, Turtle Beach, Konami and SNK

Both the Xbox and Xbox 360 failed to gain significant traction in the region despite support from niche Japanese publishers such as Cave.

This year’s Tokyo Game Show kicks off on September 19th.
