Shield gets a pre-launch price cut from Nvidia

Nvidia has cut the price of its upcoming Android portable and PC games streaming device Shield.

The machine, launched on June 27th, was due to be released for $350 but will now be available for just $300.

"We’ve heard from thousands of gamers that if the price was $299, we’d have a home run," project manager Jason Paul stated, as reported by GameSpot. "So we’re changing the price of Shield to $299. We want to get Shield into the hands of as many gamers as possible."

Shield packs a 720p five-inch multi-touch screen and can play Android titles acquired from the Google Play store. It can also stream PC games from Steam over a local network.

Inside is housed a Tegra 4 CPU, 16GB of RAM, GPS and Bluetooth. It also has space for a MicroSD card.
