Journalist joins 5th Planet Games as creative writer

Inside Social Games lead writer Mike Thompson has joined free-to-play social and mobile developer 5th Planet Games as creative writer.

In his new role, he will be responsible for developing storylines and writing the narrative for the studio’s upcoming titles.

As well as working as lead writer at Inside Social Games for over a year, Thompson has previously worked at a number of publications such as GameShark, The Escapist and Gamezebo.

“We could not be more excited to welcome Mike to the 5th Planet team,” said 5th Planet Games CEO Robert Winkler.

“His knowledge of the industry is incredible, his writing skills top-notch, and his creativity contagious, but it was his passion as a gamer that really let us know he was the right person for this critical role.”

Thompson added: “5th Planet’s games feature richly detailed characters and wonderfully elaborate plotlines that are really central to the whole experience, and they make even the most fictitious of worlds seem incredibly real.

“I am proud to help carry on the 5th Planet Games tradition of developing core games that are not only fun to play but captivating to read as well.”

Based in California, 5th Planet Games was established in 2009, and has worked on a number of games such as Dawn of the Dragons, Legacy of a Thousand Suns, Clash of the Dragons and Legacy of Heroes.
