British Columbia-based developer to focus on children's games

Club Penguin founder forms new digital studio

The founder of Disney’s Club Penguin has formed a new digital-focused studio in British Columbia, Canada.

Called Hyper Hippo Productions, the developer was founded by Club Penguin creator Lance Priebe and former Disney Online Studios head Pascale Audette.

The new studio will focus on creating games for children, and aims to focus on “unique applications and compelling storytelling” in its titles.

Hyper Hippo’s first game will be episodic strategy title Mech Mice, which is set to release this year, with an open beta also taking place during the summer.

“We are dedicated to creating a fantastic studio that will not only radically change how the industry perceives digital entertainment, but one that will positively impact children’s lives for years to come,” said Audette.

“In addition, it is important for us to invest in our local community through initiatives that increase the technology footprint in Kelowna, and in the global community through social outreach programs. Simply, our end goal is to make a positive impact in the world.”
