Normand Corbeil dies from pancreatic cancer aged 56

Heavy Rain composer passes away

The composer behind Heavy Rain’s musical score, Normand Corbeil, has passed away, aged 56 from pancreatic cancer.

The French-Canadian’s death was confirmed by a thread on a cancer support forum. The thread was reportedly started by Corbeil’s son, Laurent Bastien Corbeil.

Corbeil was born in Montreal, Quebec, on April 6th, 1956. He had a number of awards to his name for his work in film, television and video games.

However, he is probably best known for his work on Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain, for which his stimulating film noir score set the mood for one of this generation’s most original titles, and won him accolades including a BAFTA and an AIAS award.

He was also working on the score for Quantic Dream’s upcoming PS3 title, Beyond: Two Souls.
