Dishonored sales exceed Bethesda’s own expectations

Yes, launching new IP is a gamble. But when it pays off, it pays off big.

And that has proved to be Bethesda’s reward for launching new IP Dishonored in October. Not only has the game been a critical and commercial success in its own right, but it has successfully become a fully-fledged IP of its own that will reap rewards for (hopefully) years to come.

"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter," Bethesda PR boss Pete Hines told Destructoid.

"We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the No.1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.

"We’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise."
