Disney’s games division drags down financials

The Interactive business was notable in Disney’s recent financials for being the company’s only unit to fail to post a profit.

GameSpot reports that Disney Interactive, home to amongst other things its video games operations, was the only one to post a loss for both Disney’s most recent quarter and its full year.

The full-year net loss reached $216m, which was at least an improvement on the $308m loss reported in the same period last year. Quarterly revenue dipped by 14 per cent to $191m and losses hit $76m.

The release of fewer significant” titles was blamed as well as an on-going shift from console game releases to mobile and social game releases”.

Disney’s Epic Mickey 2 will be released in the UK on November 23rd.
