Valve’s recent Steam T&C changes face legal challenge

A recent change to Steam’s terms and conditions could face legal action from a German consumer rights group.

Last month Valve added a clause into Steam’s T&Cs that is designed to protect itself from class action lawsuits. Failure to agree to the changes resulted in consumers being locked out of their Steam accounts.

Cinemablend reports that the Federation of German Consumer Organisation argues that, effectively, consumers have been coerced into signing up to the agreement.

It is also pressing for the company to sign up to the controversial digital resale recommendations made by the European Court of Human Justice in July.

It has further threatened legal action if Valve does not respond to the charges, the deadline for which was originally today but was subsequently changed to October 12th.
