E3 2012: Last Guardian’s future remains uncertain

Sony Worldwide president Shuhei Yoshida has turned down a chance to confirm or deny speculation that The Last GUardian will not see release.

The Team Ico developed game was revealed at E3 2009, and became greatly anticipated due to its status as spiritual successor to PS2 titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

"When we have confidence in saying that, we will talk about it," Yoshida told Eurogamer when asked if the game will still see release. "But today, we are working through some engineering effort.

"The team is back in Tokyo is working hard, and there are some technical difficulties that the team is focused on right now. That’s why we don’t have an update."

Yoshida went on to counter accusations that delays to The Last Guardian it is being held back for the launch of the PS4, which is expected to be next year.

"What does that question mean,” he said when asked if The Last Guardian remains a PS3 game. “It is a PS3 game.”
